Acupuncture Healing Stories

Skin conditions — including eczema, hives, dermatitis, and acne — are common expressions of chronic inflammation manifesting at the surface of the body. Japanese acupuncture and herbal medicine address the underlying inflammatory and hormonal patterns driving these conditions, supporting lasting skin health from within. The following are healing stories highlighting the experiences of patients treated by Master Mika in Charlotte, New York, and online.

Story 1: Chronic Eczema

Male, 40s: He had suffered from chronic eczema since childhood, primarily around his creases — elbows and knees. The affected areas were severely itchy, red, darkened, and hardened. He consumed large amounts of alcohol and red meat daily while eating few vegetables. He also carried significant stress from work and daily life.

Treatment: He received four acupuncture sessions combined with Chinese herbal medicine and a colon cleanse. He was given dietary instruction — a more vegetable-based diet, less alcohol, and regular exercise. Within the first two sessions with herbal medicine, his symptoms subsided by 50%. He continued to improve steadily. He later suspected that some of the medications he had been taking for eczema were actually contributing to his symptoms — discontinuing them helped him heal faster. Six months later he reported his eczema had healed completely.

Story 2: Acute Hives

Female, 30s: She came in with acute hives covering her entire body.

Treatment: She received Chinese herbal medicine for eight days along with herbal supplements. Her hives resolved immediately.

Story 3: Dermatitis

Female, 30s: She was diagnosed with a type of dermatitis that only affected her face. She consulted many dermatologists before finding one who could accurately diagnose her condition. He prescribed a topical cream and cleanser that helped somewhat but could not fully resolve the condition. She decided to try acupuncture.

Treatment: She was very self-conscious about her skin and anxious. Her dermatitis began to calm down as soon as acupuncture treatment started. She was instructed to eliminate gluten, sugar, and alcohol. Although she did not crave these foods, she committed to a strict elimination diet for a month and then relaxed slightly. She completed the colon detoxification protocol followed by liver detoxification. By then her skin had improved tremendously — the dermatitis was almost invisible on her face. She understood that inflammation was the driving force behind her condition and became determined to reduce it proactively. She became confident and no longer anxious. She enjoys cooking and now makes healthy food for herself and her family.

Story 4: Acne

Female, 20s: She was extremely self-conscious about her acne, which had begun in her teens. When stressed she picked at pimples, which made them worse and caused scarring, further lowering her self-esteem.

Treatment: She began acupuncture according to her menstrual cycle. She had severe PMS which worsened her acne. She loved sugar and peanut butter, both of which aggravated her condition. As she improved her diet the number of breakouts before her cycle reduced immediately. Chinese herbal supplements helped improve her hormonal balance. She also received Energy Soul Therapy to support her confidence and address anxiety about her career, relationships, and life in general. She learned to be less judgmental and less critical of herself. Soon not only had her acne improved, but she began enjoying her life — learning to be less tense and more relaxed.
